64.அமெரிக்க அதிபர் தேர்தல்:தோற்றும் கவரும் ஹிலாரி !

ஒருவழியாக ஒபாமா ஜனநாயகக் கட்சியின் வேட்பாளராக அறிவிக்கப் படுவதற்கான குறியீடுகள் தெளிவாக வந்துவிட்டன.
முன்னிறுத்தப்படுவதற்கான-nomination- தேர்தல் இவ்வளவு கடுமையான முறையில் நடந்தது அமெரிக்க அதிபர் தேர்தல்கள் வரலாற்றில் இது முதல்முறை என்று நினைக்கிறேன்.

காரணங்கள் இரண்டு.ஒன்று முதல் முறையாக ஒரு பெண் அதிபருக்குப் போட்டியிட்டார்;முதன்முறையாக வெள்ளையர் அல்லாத-முழுக்க கருப்பராக இல்லாவிட்டாலும்-கருப்பர் இனத்தைப் பிரதிபலிக்கும் ஒரு நபருக்குமான போட்டி.வியப்பூட்டும் வகையில் இந்த போட்டி ஒரே கட்சிக்குள் நடந்ததுதான் சிறிது விநோதம்.

ஒபாமா இளைஞர்களையும்,சமநோக்கு சிந்தனையாளர்களையும் பெரிதும் கவர்ந்த போது,ஹிலாரி வயதானவர்களையும்,சிந்தனையாளர்களையும்,பெண்களையும் பெரிதும் கவர்ந்தார்.ஆரம்பத்தில் ஊடகங்கள் அனைத்தும் ஒபாமா மிக எளிதாக முன்னேறிவிடுவார் என்ற கருத்தைப் பிரதிபலித்தபோது,ஹிலாரி அவரது(ஒபாமாவின்) நாமினேஷனை மிகுந்த கடினமுடன் அடைய வேண்டிய ஒரு வெற்றியாக மாற்றிக் காட்டினார்.கடைசிவரை ஒபாமாவுக்கு அவர் சரியான போட்டியாக விளங்கினார்.

ஆனால் என்னைக் கவர்ந்தது அவருடைய புயல் போன்ற,நன்கு தீர்மானிக்கப் பட்ட பிரச்சாரத்தை விட,ஒபாமா கிட்டத்தட்ட தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப் பட்டபின்,அவருடைய கடைசி நாள் கூட்டத்தில் அவருடைய உரையும்,நடத்தையும்..

அது முதிர்ச்சியும்,புத்திசாலியுமான ஒரு பெண்ணின் அணுகுமுறை எப்படி இருக்கும் என உலகுக்குக் காட்டிய ஒன்று.

தன் தோல்வியால் பெண்கள் அயர்ச்சியடையக் கூடாது என்று சொன்ன ஹிலாரி,இனிமேல் நாட்டின் முதல் பதவிக்குப் போட்டியிடுவதை ஒரு செயற்கரிய செயலாகக் கருதாமல்,ஒரு உரிமையாகக் கருத வேண்டிய நிலை வந்துவிட்டது என்று பிரகடனம் செய்தார்;அதிபர் நாமினேஷனுக்கான தேர்வில் தன் தோல்வி இளமைக்கும்,பெண்மைக்குமான உந்துதலை அழித்துவிடக் கூடாது என்றார்.

தாய்மொழியான ஆங்கிலத்தில் அற்புதமான வார்த்தைகளில் அவரது உரை பின்வருமாறு செல்கிறது..

She urged women who had supported her — who had turned out at her headquarters, flocked to her rallies and poured into the polls to vote for her — not to take the wrong lesson from her loss.
“You can be so proud that, from now on, it will be unremarkable for a woman to win primary state victories, unremarkable to have a woman in a close race to be our nominee, unremarkable to think that a woman can be the president of the United States,” she said. “To those who are disappointed that we couldn’t go all of the way, especially the young people who put so much into this campaign, it would break my heart if, in falling short of my goal, I in any way discouraged any of you from pursuing yours.”
At that point the cheers, mostly from women, swelled so loud that Mrs. Clinton’s remaining words could not be heard.

முன்னர் ஒபாமா ஜனநாயகக் கட்சியைப் பிரதிநிதித்துவப்ப்டுத்துவது உறுதியான போது,துணை அதிபர் தேர்வுக்கு அவர் ஹிலாரியை முன் மொழியலாம் என்ற ஊகங்கள் இருந்தன.

ஆனால் இதைப்பற்றிப் பிறகு யோசிக்கலாம் என ஒபாமா முற்றுப்புள்ளி வைத்துவிட்ட போதும்,ஹிலாரி தன்னுடைய கடைசிப் பிரச்சார உரையில் எந்தவிதக் கசப்புகளும் மேலெழுந்துவிடாத சாக்கிரதை உணர்வில் பேசினார்;அதோடு முழுமூச்சாக ஒபாமாவை ஆதரிக்க வேண்டும் என தன் ஆதரவாளர்களை வேண்டினார்.

பிரச்சாரம் ஆரம்பித்தபோது ஒரு பெண் அதிபராகத் தேர்வு பெற முயற்சிக்க முடியுமா என்ற கெள்விகள் இருந்தன;நமது முயற்சி அது முடியும் எனக் காட்டியது.ஒரு ஆப்பிரிக்கன் அமெரிக்கன் அதிபராக முயற்சிக்க இயலுமா என்பதில் கேள்விகள் இருந்தன;ஒபாமா அது முடியும் எனக் காட்டியிருக்கிறார்’ என்றார்.

“Now, think how much progress we’ve already made,” she said. “When we first started, people everywhere asked the same questions. Could a woman really serve as commander in chief? Well, I think we answered that one. Could an African-American really be our president? And Senator Obama has answered that one.”
Mrs. Clinton was as relaxed and expansive as she had been at any point on the campaign trail. In talking about all the reasons she thought Democrats should rally around Mr. Obama, she lapsed into a rushed preacher’s cadence, ending each refrain with “and that’s why we need to elect Barack Obama our president.”
She even embraced without any hesitation Mr. Obama’s campaign theme, grinning broadly as she said, “So today I am standing with Senator Obama to say: ‘Yes, we can!’ ”

தன் கணவர் கிளிண்டனோடு 1993,1997 களில் வெற்றி சமயத்தில் தானே நடனமாடிய மேடையில் அவரது கடைசி நாள் பிரச்சாரக் கூட்டம் நடந்தது எதேச்சையான ஒரு ‘நாடகபாணி’-dramatic- நிகழ்வு.
ஹிலாரி சொன்னார்-

‘“Together, Senator Obama and I achieved milestones essential to our progress as a nation, part of our perpetual duty to form a more perfect union,” she said. “Now, on a personal note, when I was asked what it means to be a woman running for president, I always gave the same answer, that I was proud to be running as a woman, but I was running because I thought I’d be the best president. But I am a woman and, like millions of women, I know there are still barriers and biases out there, often unconscious, and I want to build an America that respects and embraces the potential of every last one of us.”

நேஷனல் பில்டிங் மியூசியத்தில் நிகழ்ந்த நெகிழ்வான இந்த உரையைக் சிகாகோவிலிருந்து கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்த ஒபாமா இவ்வாறு கூறினாராம்,

“I honor her today for the valiant and historic campaign she has run,” he said. “She shattered barriers on behalf of my daughters and women everywhere, who now know that there are no limits to their dreams.”

அமெரிக்காவை விட்டு வந்து சுமார் 8 வருடங்களாகி விட்டதால்,அமெரிக்க மக்களின் துடிப்பை நேரடி உணரும் அனுபவம் இல்லாதிருக்கும் இந்த நேரங்களில்,ஊடகவழியிலேயே செய்திகளை அவதானிக்க வேண்டிய நிலையில் இருந்த நான்,ஹிலாரியை விட ஒபாமாவே சிறந்தவராக இருப்பார் என எண்ணினேன்.

ஹிலாரியின் கடைசிப் பிரச்சார தினப் பேச்சுகள்,தெளிவும்,தீர்மாணமும்,புத்திசாலித்தனமும் நிறைந்த பெண்களுக்கும் கூட இன்னும் பாலியல் சார்ந்த மனத் தடைகள் முன்னேற்றத்திற்கு தடையாக இருக்கின்றன என் எண்ண வேண்டியதிருக்கிறது.இதை மீறிப் பரிமளிக்கும் பெண்களின் பிரதிநிதியாக இப்போது அவர் தெரிகிறார்.

மேலும் ஆசியாவைப் பற்றிய ஒபாமாவின் கணிப்புகளும்,மதிப்பீடுகளும் இந்தியாவுக்கு அவ்வளவு சிறந்தவையாக இருக்கப் போவதில்லை என்றும் சிலர் இப்போது மதிப்பிடுகிறார்கள்..

பார்க்கலாம்-இடையில் மெக்கைன் மொக்கை போட்டு விடவும் வாய்ப்புகள் இருக்கின்றன.

என்ன நடக்கிறது என பொறுத்திருந்து பார்ப்போம்...
